Review: Olay White Radiance intensive brightening serum

Hello girls, today I will review Olay White Radiance intensive brightening serum which I have been using and was also in my last month’s favorites list.

A few months back, while reading different sorts of beauty related articles on the internet, I came across a term ‘serum’. “Sounds interesting!!!” told my pestering beauty devil that resides ominously inside my actual brain and often happens to override it. I looked for more and found that serums are easily absorbed by the skin and work deeper than creams and lotions due to their small molecular structures. I was always bad at chemistry so molecules did not appeal to me. But the beauty devil was munching on the ‘easily absorbed’ and ‘deeper action’ phrases. And then I suddenly felt a huge urge to get hold of a serum targeting my dark spots. A look at the product image and the devil nodded “YES YES YES!!!!”. That was the story how I included a serum in my daily skincare regimen.

Product says: Intensive treatment with high concentration of whitening active and dual color vitamin beads. Tackles surface and hidden whitening issues; for luminous fairness.  White Radiance has high concentration of CelLucent™ whitening active, Vitamin B3, Natural Plant Whitening Extract and dual color vitamin beads. Tackles both surface and hidden whitening issues like spots, darkness, and uneven skin tone.  Non greasy formula. Use with UV cream/lotion during day time.

The Results:

  • From first use, skin looks brighter.
  • See dark spots and uneven tone visibly reduced.
  • With regular use, tackle hidden whitening issues.
  • For natural, Luminous Fairness from deep within* tackle hidden whitening issues.

Ingredients: Water, niacinamide, glycerin, mannitol, butylene glycol, hexylene glycol, cellulose, dimethicone, acrylates/c10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer, peg-32, phenoxyethanol, glyceryl polymethacrylate, benzyl alcohol, tocopheryl acetate, sodium hydroxide, methylparaben, dimethiconol, disodium edta, ascorbyl palmitate, fragrance, isopropyl isostearate, sodium metabisulfite, sodium ascorbyl phosphate, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, ci 77491, ci 77891, morus alba root extract, propylene glycol, pvm/ma copolymer, lilium candidum bulb extract, lonicera japonica (honeysuckle) flower extract.

Price: Rs. 1299 for 50 ml.

Directions: Use twice a day before applying the facial moisturizer.

Packaging: The serum comes in a cylindrical bottle with silver colored cap and base. The cap fits well. It has a pump dispenser. One unique thing about the packaging is that unlike other products whose level move down as it is used up, this product’s level moves up gradually with use. Benefit: Zero wastage as the pump does not fight to pull up the product accumulating at the bottom.

Consistency: The serum is of a runny slimy texture but is absorbed very quickly without leaving any oily sticky feeling. Looks pale orange in the bottle, but once pumped out is almost colorless. Has very small beads which are crushed and mixed with the serum while pumping.

How did it fare on me: Before buying the product I knew that the “white” part will be of no use, all I wanted was the “radiance”. Unlike creams and lotions, it really seeps within the skin in a matter of seconds and skin feels hydrated. I loved applying it on my face from the first use itself. It is not at all oily or sticky, great for my super oily skin. I apply it twice daily, in the morning before stepping out and at night, before the night cream. I wake up with plump healthy skin which I love. But sadly it did not anything to the dark spots (the reason for which I bought it).

  • I love the packaging. Travel friendly and different.
  • It hydrates and plumps up the skin
  • Gives a healthy glow
  • Gets completely absorbed. My oily skin loves the consistency.

  • Price is on the higher side. Product does not last very long when used twice daily.
  • Did nothing to my dark spots.

Final verdict: I loved the product for what it did to my skin but the results are not permanent. Stop using this for  a day and your skin will be back to its own dull self. If you want to lift up your skin’s mood and price is not a factor, definitely go for it. Believe me, I got compliments for my good skin after using this.

Will I buy this again: I am not sure. I have a few pumps left and after that I would love to try something else for my dark spots. I will come back to this if nothing else works.

Have you used Olay White Radiance intensive brightening serum? Please feel free to express.

I am dying to get my hands on some good makeup brushes…any suggestions??? I am even dreaming of all sorts of brushes these days. My little devil says “you need them right now.” LOL!!!
